Gulf Coast Zoo brings tigers and a monkey to class
Monday, December 15, 2008
Students learn about nurturing baby animals at a recent visit by head Gulf Coast Zoo keeper.

Head zoo keeper, Cyndi Johnson and keeper supervisor, Gayla Flannery of the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo recently brought a monkey and two baby white tigers to Ms. Amoreena Brewton's psychology class at Gulf Shores High School. The students learned about the recovery of the monkey from brain damage and the nurturing of the baby tigers.

The trainers told the students about the around-the-clock care the baby animals require, including taking them home for feedings every night. The students and faculty were able to take turns petting the baby tigers and learning about the details of working with wild animals at our local zoo.
